Born and raised in Prince George’s County Shaiday was first introduced to yoga through her dance training background and fully invested in the practice after an intense dance related injury back in 2016. This devastating injury led her ot fully devote herself to a 200 Hour yoga teacher certification with The Yoga and Ayurveda Center in July 2020, allowing her to find solace in stillness while in recovery. Over the years after graduating she trained with local studios and received her certifications in Barre/Mat Pilates with Pilates Barre; Guided Meditation and Thai Bodywork Massage (Level 1 & 2) with Spiritual Essence Yoga Studio; as well as Nature Facilitation, Sound Healing, and also becoming an Usui Reiki Master of three levels with Sankofa Yoga & Wellness. Shaiday's main mission is to share movement and meditation with people of ALL kinds looking to deepen their inner connection while developing their talents and authentic expression to share with the outside world. As Shaiday continues to teach and perform, her mission is to heal the community surrounding her and serve light and love amidst cultivating true creativity. With her experience working in public school education, professional media relations, and public parks & recreation Shaiday’s teaching methods lean into philosophies surrounding mind, body, and spiritual connection through cultivating creative balance, community service and stewardship, inner peace, self-confidence, and strengthening inner awareness. Whether she is working with children, youth organizations, adults or developing artists, her mission is to bring out the undeniable light we all have within.
Taking The Stage
Shaiday ”Sunflxw” Dancy has been dancing throughout her entire life and has dedicated her light to pursing a professional career in her creative path. She began her training in the Laurel High School Dance Program later going on to study dance at Frostburg State University; ranging in genres from ballet, jazz, HipHop, contemporary modern, majorette, and West African in both the commercial and theatre world. Shaiday has had the honor of training with companies such as Enkore Dance, Capital Movement, Light and Sound Dance Theatre, VT Dance Company, WarrNxLVL, RAM Dance Collective, and A.J. Collabs.; while performing in various shows on different stages in the DMV area such as What’s Going On, Devour the Show, DC Pride Festival, Raw Artists, and other community showcases. Her intention in every class and project is to showcase and help others find the light and love within themselves, for that is the only this that matters in this world.
